Emily started The Roundhay Tutoring Company back in 2016 in order for her to continue the teaching job that she loved alongside the demands of being a mum. Tutoring allowed her to work around her family’s needs. We know that the demands of being a parent and paying the bills can be overwhelming and want to support other teachers to find tutoring clients and find a more flexible work-life balance.

Supportive Environment
Let us support you in finding clients and guide you through the best methods to use for teaching online or in homes. Let us support you in making sure you have contracts, insurance and health and safety documents in place. We also take the stress out of payments and invoice for your tutoring payments after each session.
Pay
We pay a competitive hourly rate. You can choose to be paid weekly, monthly or termly.

Emily

Emily has 17 years teaching experience in a variety of roles and subjects. After the birth of her second child she started The Roundhay Tutoring Company in order to be able to continue teaching whilst catering to the demands of being a mum.
Emily’s specialism is teaching higher maths GCSE but she is also passionate about English as a foreign language to new-to-the-country refugee/asylum seeker teenagers. She has a keen interest in understanding the impact of trauma on young people and often takes on pro-bono work in this area.

Hi I’m Jan. I have worked in education for 45years. My experience covers all ages from 3years to 18. My specialism is English as a Second Language, supporting children of all abilities through their school journey. My experience includes 10years teaching overseas in Khartoum and Istanbul.

Hi, I’m Kathryn! I have been a primary school teacher for 16 years. I have taught across Key Stage 1 and 2 and led Maths across the whole school for several years. I have experience of teaching and assessing phonics and preparing children for the Year 6 SATs.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is entirely up to you. You could do as little as 1 hour per week, term-time only. You choose what works for you.
That is up to you. We prefer face-to-face lessons for children year 5 and younger. Online works really well for year 6 onwards. In person tuition is paid at a higher rate to online.
You decide. Some tutors like paying weekly whereas some like to save up their tutoring income for the end of term for extra holiday spending money!
We will help you take the stress out of finding students, choosing appropriate insurance, supporting you with how to teach online, collecting payments from parents, making contracts for you and the families, helping you with curriculum and resources, trouble-shooting any issues that arise and claiming money for no-show lessons and late cancellations.
You will be responsible for paying for your own insurance and doing your annual tax declaration.
